Root Rom that can read SIM Card

relentles

Lurker
I am on a DHD. I will need my phone to be able to read and write contacts to the sim card for. So far, i've tried CM 7.2 and IceColdSandwich and both of them are not able to read/write contacts to sim.

I've also tried googling around and there doesn't seems to have any solution for it. Most of the solution centers around syncing the contacts to google which is not acceptable because I need the contacts synced to my sim card to transfer to another non-camera phone, which unfortunately has no way of connecting to a laptop or the network.

On the old stock rom, i had no issue running apps like contacts2sim to sync the contacts. But ever since I rooted the phone, I wasn't able to do so anymore.

Does anyone knows of a rom that can allow me to transfer contacts from phone to sim and vice versa?

Hello and welcome to the forums relentles - thanks for joining! :)

I am sorry you are having issues - I have never stored my contacts on my SIM... I've preferred to sync my phone with my Gmail account... in doing this, your contacts are safe - if I loose my phone (or just when I upgrade), I am able to get all of my contacts on my phone by linking it with my Gmail account.

I am sure that one of our other members should be able to offer some advice though!! :)

I have the same issue, I have an old Nokia that plugs into my car kit so I also need to save to SIM the only way I found to do it was using a SIM card reader for my PC and a piece of software called SIM Edit.

Sync all contacts to Google, then export form Google via CSV file convert to XLS file and load into SIM edit - Delete the contacts I don't want on the SIM and then load the contact back to the SIM card via the reader.

PITA but it works.

im with D-U-R-X... im not sure why anyone would want to keep contacts on a sim card. just like keeping them on an sd card,if something happens to the card, your contacts are gone

if you sync them with google, they will always be there and always come right back when you sync a new phone,or a new rom build.

nigsy looks to have given great advice. i was not even aware you could get a sim card reader for your PC!

Hi,
I believed the AHRD will work. I rooted the phone to try ICS but it seems that none of them is suitable.

I have tried the infinity alpha rom as well as IceColdSandwich.

On the infinity alpha rom, i was able to port out my contacts to sim but i wasn't able to have it working with my exchange account. I wasn't able to encrypt the data as part of the requirement to have my exchange account synced.

On the IceColdSandwich, i wasn't able to read sim contacts.

As for why i need contacts on sim, i might be facing a situation that many male Singaporeans are facing. I need to port all my contacts to a non-camera phone once a year. And since i am only using it once a year, i only got myself a "dumb" phone that can't go to the internet or connect to the PC.

Thanks for all the help. Let me know if anyone found any rom that can now
1. encrypt data
2. read sim contacts.
