Root [ROM][WIP][4.4.2] CyanogenMod 11.0

answers no, vitria is a krait 400 device valiant is a s4, the vitria is closer to the premia than the valiant, they also rewrote the kernel for their msm8960/msm8930 devices to handle device selection different.

the valiant users can use dazzozo's cm11 from what it seems because dazzozo and ricardo already looked into merging in (some) of valiants source code into their kitkat kernel but the Y300 has some differences vs the valiant so some stuff is broken.

You are always on TARGET with your posts. Thank you for keeping us updated and helping us in the valiant threads.
I'm sort of hoping you buy a 19 dollar valiant yourself ( i picked up 4 of them to play with at 19 dollars a piece) so you have a vested interest in getting kitkat working. :D

Although, I also have vitria, so if you find info on getting that model to work with kitkat, very cool too.

I guess EagerestWolf is still trying to get straightened out with his home/job situation. Hope he can find time to continue his work on kitkat.

KineXS, I went to the site, and the page keep getting hung up. Can you post a place where we can just download a ready made ROM I can try. The second link just hangs on me, and just seems to be code, thousands and thousands of code lines. Or maybe post a link to just the ROM to download and instuctions, it's over my head what to do with just code lines.
According to the the 2 comments on 1st link, the valiant should work 100 percent but the vitria will not work. So I'm interested in trying it out, but I would have to be shown the exact file to download to play it safe. Thanks.

Here is link to the nightly builts for the Y300 that was mentioned.
Proceed slowly and research it.
Maybe we can figure out the most stable version together. If you are brave report back what works and doesn't work. And build date.
Some stuff is broken according to KainXS, but it comes close to the specs in our valiant.

update 1: I read the last 3 or 4 pages of the 131 page thread , and people suggested that later builds were not that good. And a few people tried carbon build and suggested it worked for them. Here is link to carbon build for Y300.

Sorry, I was just curious on how he got such a good battery life, he probably used it a lot less than me, I pretty much constantly use mine, I should probably get back on topic... I hope you the best eagerestwolf

No problem derpy01, I see you are posting other threads on stuff you are interested in, which is good.
I am just very interested in kitkat on valiant and didn't want it to get lost in this thread with people discussing other topics. :)
(as to increasing battery life, turn on airplane mode and then toggle wifi, bluetooth,gps on and off when you use those features ... I get 3 or 4 days battery use on it) Airplane mode does turn off cell phone and fm radio, so turn airplane mode off if you use those features. Basically only turn on the features you are using when you are using them, then toggle them off because gps/bluetooth/wifi use battery. There are other ways to save battery life, greenify app, and other stuff.

I'm hoping for a ROM for valiant which combines y300 with y301-a1, so help us research it. The Golden EGG. :)

One person has managed to get 4.4.2, but using a ROM for another phone, and lost some funcuality along the way, as for me posting on the other forums and stuff, I try to help where I can, I'm trying to get into ROM making but can't find any good tutorials.

I would rather you address your comments to everybody. I'm not interested in making a rom, but installing a ready made rom. Also, I am waiting to hear that wifi works in kitkat, it's not worth it for me to get kitkat if wifi is not working. Carbon is a ready made rom.
 
I did load the carbon rom and wifi doesn't work. Just to update you guys.
Before you load the rom, make a nadroid backup using cwm right after you load cwm onto your valiant of your jelly bean stuff, it's just taking backup from cwm. It only takes 5 minutes to make a cwm backup, so just do it. Enough said.

Also, I used recovery-clockwork-6.0.4.5-u8833-R3.img for recovery , which I loaded in fastboot. (this recovery img was able to see my sd cards.)

I recommend staying with jelly bean until wifi works.

Now I didn't do what I told you to do, I did not make a backup using cwm and I was screwed. I luckily had other valiants I could go to and make a cwm backup(nadroid backup) and loaded it on the kitkat valiant. That worked for me to recover and restore my kitkat valiant back to jelly bean.

I couldn't get the system img to work that was talked about that someone else posted because in fastboot it said it didn't have enough space to load it. And I tried all types of methods to load a system image. Only thing that worked was using cwm backup of jelly bean to get my valiant working again. Others had said to do nadroid backup , so take their advice. :)

I was the one having issues with the system.img file could not load it using fastboot, no matter what. Some of these cats talk about entering the a code and it does work, it gets me to the firmware update screen, it will unpack it but when it tries to go into stage 2 (Install) it will fail. I gave up on it. so I am waiting on a valiant bought from ebay and will make a back up and try to restore to the one I already have. Thanks though
 
I received my used valiant phone $10 from ebay and got the bootloader code from huawei in matter of minutes after requesting it. I installed the modaco cwm listed somewhere in the threads and did a back up. Swapped sdcards and restored it using CWM.

Issue resolved. I now have two valiants with the update installed and rooted

Im willing to upload the backup if someone has a dropbox account and would like for me to share it... this will make it easy for others to fix soft bricks
