Hey everyone, i just installed advanced task killer to save battery life(mine dies in 10 hours or so) and it seems there are 20 or more apps that open up automatically a few minutes after i kill them!

Is this normal? alot of the apps are ones i didn't even open like 'spiderman 3d', google+, maps, etc...

any suggestions on how i can stop these from opening to prolong battery life, besides going in to task killer every 15 minutes??

Thanks everyone,

Cheers.

Ok, not trying to be rude, but do yourself a favor and do a search for "task killers" on here. There are MANY threads that will tell you task killers make things worse.

and it seems there are 20 or more apps that open up automatically a few minutes after i kill them!

This is why task killers do not work, I will give you the quick answer. Android is NOT like Windows, what many people are used to. If an android phone sees 1gb of memory free, it will fill that memory full of apps that are cached, ready to be opened at any time. There is no point of having all that memory just sitting there free and not being used. What people are confused about, when you see those apps in a task killer, they are NOT running, they are just cached.

So when you use a task killer, and it kills all the apps out of memory, android sees the memory is free, and will cache all those apps back into memory. Its a cycle, the more you try to kill the apps, the more android has to work harder to fill that memory back up, thus using WAY WAY more battery then if you would have just left it alone.

There are MANY other ways to save battery, but task killers are not one, they only make your battery worse. Turn off your radios when not in use (3g, wifi, bluetooth etc). Turn your syncing off or turn the frequency down in settings-accounts and sync. Turn your display brightness down, and turn off the screen immediately when you are done using it.

Task killers are not the way to address battery life. Please refer to the countless battery life threads for tips on improving battery life.

You're not prolonging battery life by killing the apps. Again, refer to the existing threads for the why. This is a very severely beaten dead horse.
