Root Root 2.3.3

so just updated my phone the other night to 2.3.3, and lost my root access. From the reading i have done super one click no longer is able to root the phone. I have also tired superoneclick 2.1 and got stuck on step 6 like other reports. After doing some research on some order posts i have found people where able to root there 2.3.3 phones using GingerBreak, so i am wondering if anyone here has tired it yet?

In SOC 2.1 on the right upper right side there is a drop down menu under Exploit. I think by default it says automatic but if you pull it down it has Gingerbreak and spneuter to choose from. I think there will have to be another exploit found or a modification to gingerbreak

I sure hope 2.3.3 can be rooted eventually.

Battery life and speed are greatly improved with simple rooting and removal of selected apps on this phone.

Casio could have had a much greater following if they had not so-overburdened this device.

+1.
I don't get the logic why they do that. There's only one reason that makes sense. F...in' money. It's got to be a cash cow to have that crap locked in. To bad.

Ive tried almost everything. I get stuck on step 7 using SOC. at step 6 u need to disable debugging then enable it again. But I even tried various versions on unrevoked, and androot, ( even though it doesn't support GB) I tried to post on XDA but can't register with a Verizon IP. Anyone have any tips? And I hope they release a new exploit soon

Yeah....it's a shame.
I went back to having everything running like when it was new, and was amazed at how much slower everything runs and how much less responsive the screen is.
Big difference. The phone works VERY well with out all the crap.

I'm thinking about getting a new Commander, but only if I can root, debloat, and tether. Is the 2.3.3 update automatic, or can I get a phone with 2.2.1 and just not update it?

The only problem with that is you wont know what version the new phone has until you get it. If you get 2.2.1, you are all set so long as you dont let it update before you root and remove Innopath.

I also got new phone from verizon on 10/14, it was at 2.2.1. Thanks to this forum it is already rooted with innopath backed up and deleted. On a side note this phone is great, but I do not like the lack of control over alot of the functionallity of the phone. The messaging has no way to organize them except for the way it has been programed. It takes quite a few steps to dial someone from your contacts. It is difficult to switch between different email accounts and there are no settings which allow me to control how the messages are treated in the email server.
Boy was it fun removing all that bloatware crap.

evnp, there are options:

If you have some people that you call frequently you can create a direct dial icon on one of the home screens. Tap the menu button, tap add, when the list comes up scroll down to direct dial. That will bring up a list of your contacts with phone numbers. Pick the one you want & an icon will be created for that contact/number. Repeat until you have everyone covered. You can do the same thing to direct message someone. When you want to call/text them just tap the appropriate icon once and you will be calling/texting them. I know it takes up space but you do have 5 home screens...

For email get Enhanced Email for Android. Yes, it is a paid app - worth every penny. One icon gets me to all my email. I can choose between individual inboxes or a combined inbox. I can also pick which email address is the default sending address. I can pick different color icons for received messages and each account gets its own notification settings. Setting up a Gmail account with push notification seems like a kludge, but it really only seems that way and once it is configured it works just like the original Gmail app. The best part is I can choose whether or not to enforce exchange security policies because my work email requires either a PIN or password & I would rather not have that. With EE my phone ignores that rule and I get my work email without having to PIN my phone every time I want to use it.

Another tip. Any apps that you have downloaded and intend to keep on the phone can be added to the ROM using Titanium Backup. Rafael has a nice post on that feature. It frees up your memory and keeps the app if you ever do a factory reset.

rjglenn has good advice there, as always.
If you want an all in one email app for free, try K9 mail.
I like it.

Thanks, great tips. I am on a learning curve from having the Casio Brigade. Which was by far the best phone I ever had. 2 must have's for the commando are the charging cradle and the holster. What I have noticed that makes these andoids great is the custmability the apps give you. I can app the phone to do what I want.

On a side note, I googled "casio commando forum" and one of the pages listed which I clicked on gave me a virus. My anti-virus program detected it, but did not block it. The next time I started my computer, it went into an infinate loop. Where the computer would start, load windows til the Microsoft logo would appear then shut down again. Safe mode would not load nor could I do a restore. That pissed me off. I was able to get all my data off the hard drive after I plugged it into my usb port, but it still sucks. It will take a lot of time to fix the mess. I will try to google search again and try to remember what site it was and post back.

Here is the site, I am pretty sure, I have made some errors in the text so no one will click on it.
DO NOT TRY THIS LINK, I GOT A VIRUS
