Root ROOT! A sarcastic request

I know that having root is probably a few weeks if not a few months away. But gad I miss that so much! Sure would have made setting up the phone all whole lot easier. Not really interested in ROMing the phone, just backing it up. 6+GB for the operating system seems a little steep. Heck, the Razr got away with under a Gig! That could definitely be knocked down a bit with deleting the bloatware and deodexing. Jus' dreaming out loud.
