Root Access

Hi all.

Firstly what a great forum, very informative.

Just managed to update my Galaxy Ace from 2.3.3 to 2.3.5.

But i'm stuck and though i've searched and read lots of post, I can't find the answer.

I've read that you can get Flash working on SGA, but the instructions state:

"Make sure your have root access on your phone before following the steps mentioned below."

But how do you gain root access?

Cheers

Thanks Pool_Shark for the heads-up

but i still can't find anything that remotely looks like allowing root access.

"Make sure your have root access on your phone before following the steps mentioned below."

Could ypu please point slightly closer in the right direction, Please.

Cheers

Go to that link, read up on root terminology, then use the how-to in that link to get root access. He couldn't have pointed you any closer.

Root access on Android means the same thing as Admin access on a PC. The name of the Android admin account is root. Rooting is the act of getting root access. With root access, you can access the storage areas and operations of your phone that you can’t with the normal user access you have now.

Please try the link pool shark shared. :) ;)

Many thank EarlyMon & pool_shark

as a total novice I am finding the many different mods availible quite complex, but I will stick with it

Thanks again both of you.

Well, the whole root thing can be tricky. I spent a good 2 weeks just reading and asking questions before my first root. Best time investment you can make with Android, in my opinion.

Once you get pretty clear on this whole rooting business, the rest just starts to fall into place.

Don't be shy about asking questions, we were all new at this once and know how you feel.

Welcome to the forums! :)

This is where i am so far.

I have upgrade my fireware from 2.3.3. to 2.3.5 using Odin as instructed in this forum. nice improvements.

I've installed upd_1.zip, ClockWorkModAce.zip and Superuser.apk.

I've read else where (****://knowmydroid.com/blog/how-to-install-flash-player-on-samsung-galaxy-ace-fit-mini-and-other-android-handsets

and that Flash Player works will SGA, i've downloaded the files, unzipped, but this is where i'm stuck.

I am trying to copy the following files to the internal memory:
Adobe Flash Player 10.03.apk
libflashplayer.so
libstagefright_froyo.so
libstagefright_honeycomb.so
libysshared.so

I using ES File Explorer and Root Browser to copy & paste the files to internal memory, but i get ****** copy failed.

please what i'm I doing wrong?

Cheers T9

Guess what!!

Flash Player now working on my SGA 2.3.5 Gingerbread.

Managed to copy the required files using ES File Explorer after adjusting the app's setting "Root Explorer" (only for rooted devices), this then invoked superuser, and then copy & paste then worked.

Thanks again for your help.

Kindest regards

T9
