Root Acer Liquid MT on 2.2?

[Android Question]

I'm new to Android. I got a cheap Acer Liquid MT to play with it, root it, etc. before sinking money into one on contract.

I tried using the Cyanogen Mod installer, but 2.2 is too old for it. What other tools would be recommended?

I'm looking to remove bloatware. I'm also an automation geek, and I want to install Tasker. I understand that with Root access, Tasker has more functions.

I appreciate your help. My e-mail address is xkcd386 @ gmail.com

CM7 should work on a 2.2 phone. You just need a version made for that phone.

Rooting the stock ROM is easier - just search

adb root android

and you'll see a lot of tutorials on rooting using adb - which you can get with Mini-SDK
