Root Root an unlock x10 phone?

ClixT

Newbie
ok so im thinking of buying this at&t locked x10. my friend told me that if i "root" it, its gonna unlock the phone. is it true??

EDIT: i meant and unlock a locked x10!

Rooting the phone will enable you to install various roms(like 2.2 beta roms and many others)

Unlocking the phone will enable you to use it with other cell phone carriers like Verizon, sprint etc.

So even if i root its still gonna be locked with At&t??

I updated the Firmware through SEUS.
its now 2.1.54
My phone is no longer rooted. Do i have to redo the steps to route my phone and if so what software will it intsall i.e Will it install the latest Firmware?

Thanks

Yeah your gonna have to re root again and install xrecovery, but you should be on baseband .55.

Clix, even if you root, you will still be locked to at&t. You can buy the code on ebay by giving a vendor your iemi #. Then hey will send you the code and instructions on how to unlock your phone so it will work on other carriers .

yes. you still be lock to your carrier.

each time you install a new firmware (through SEUS, PCC or flashtool) you need to get rooted again.
