Root Root and the Samsung warranty.

So current thinking is that Samsung will not honour their warranty for rooted phones but their EULA says:

You may make one copy of the Software in machine readable form for backup purposes only

So how would I do that without root?

Just to be clear, I don't want to make a copy, I'm just trying to find out if it's possible. If it's not then it would appear that that statement allows you to root the phone.

You should be fine when it comes to root, you just need to not trip the Knox counter, which will void your device entirely. Tripping this counter is easy as long as you follow a guide when rooting your device.

My last phone, Galaxy Nexus (Samsung Device), has been rooted like crazy and even had an extended battery and when I had to jump on Verizon's Edge Plan, you have to turn in your old phone, they didn't care that it was rooted and everything, they just took it and gave me a new Galaxy Note 3.

You should be fine :)
