Root evo 4g or tablet for free wifi tether?

Is it possible to just root the evo 4g to get free wifi tethering for the galaxy tab, or would I also have to root the galaxy tab?
 
Just root your EVO so you can get free wifi tether, some ROMs out there have it so you can use Sprint's Hotspot app which i use personally and it works flawlessly. I use the hotspot for my HP Touchpad.
