Root Root guide

Of you mean the dock? Yea press options button n goto prefs/settings depending on wat launcher you have. Not regular settings, launcher one. I'm sure you'll find it :)

I have ADWLauncher, i just made a back up of the settings and the desktop configuration lol.
Phew my pc gave me so much grief >_> Now I can enjoy!
But as I said If I was to change mods, would i just drag the zip file and just re-flash and it would over ride?
Also If i get a new memory card I would just have to format it again as done initially correct?

In theory both points are correct, but if you wanted to change mod, I'd go right from the start again, and flash with odin back to the Jh6 firmware, then root again, then mod after that. Then your mod will be a clean install each time if you follow that process.

And yes for a new sd card, you can copy the windows position (where you put pics/ringtones ect) to your pc. Then I've new card is in phone and you have done the ext partition in recovery and boot to normal use you can connect phone to pc and copy sd content back to phone.

I'm back again lol, i tried to do a clean install, wanted to install 2.1 and then fresh root to mod, but now after i used odin and installed 2.1 and waiting for the phone to reboot, the screen shows an exclamation mark with a picture of the phone, whats this all about?

edit: nvm solved it...was making mistakes.

Just got a galaxy portal gt-i5700 and thought I'd follow this guide on upgrading the android and rooting it, but when I click on the I570EXXJH6 download link I get a 404

I'm not at all familiar with samsung phones or the odin and kies software packages but I have rooted an xperian x8 in the past, pretty good with computers but a relative phone noob so I'll probably need more help once I get a suitable android download

Is there an alternative link to one that's suitable for this phone that anyone knows of?

register and download latest over at samfirmware.com

great forums over there as well. my i5700 is long gone. but flashing firmware was done with Odin. more details on that at same site. cheers

Cheers mate, I'll go check that out

Well I did that, went there registered, tried to download every single firmware listed for this phone and got a 404 for every single one of them

Anyone know anywhere else I can get one from, or even send me one?

Finally got it installed ... but I have no sound during calls and when playing music, though phone sounds, alarm etc work
