Root Root help on my babygirl

Hi Every1, after 2days I finally posted on correct thread, thanks Scotty lol :)

Model# PC36100, Android Ver: 2.3.5, Baseband Ver: 2.15.00.01.15, Kernel Ver: 2.6.35.10-g8b16b68 htc-kernel@and18-2#1, Build Num: 5.07.651.6 710RD, Browswer Ver: webkit/533.1, PRI Ver: 2.33_003

Like 2 know if all Sprint Carrier roms are located on forum so i dont have trouble using cell also what is the BEST STABLE root setup with wifi tether enabled?
I seen alot of differnet ways to root but would like to know the right way to root my lil girl, i dont wana brick it jus wana have full access lastly I have unlimited data plan so I wana root 4 free wifi hotspot but what rom do i need 2 get hopspot like Trev MOD etc?... Thank You
 
Hi Mikestoney, thanks 4 ur reply, believe me when i say i dont wana b spoon feed, life aint easy trust me i know how 2 READ AND WRITE LOL :) Past 2 days when i decided 2 root my cell I read alot but i hear do this then sum1 else says dont do it then i keep on hearn the same damn story wtf!?!?!?!? I just wana ask a PRO what is the best stable rom wit root, plain and simple understand me now my friend... Im was decidn on what of the 2 methods I came across on

Just briefly looking at those 2 methods, they are a variation on the same theme as the rooting link I provided.

most folks can get by stopping at step 33..you will have root with S-on/unlocked. That is sufficient to flash roms.
The reason you will want S-off, is to flash radios and some other things that I can't remember :o

You can always get S-off later if you wish, so no worries there. :)

Is the link I provided better? Like I said, it's a variation of the same thing you linked.
But I am biased towards my link because I used it, I know it works, others have used it, and I always refer to it for troubleshooting.
 
so u no i already uninstalled htc drivers and sync s/w on my XP comp, deleted antivirus from cell and already did backup lasnite, anything else ul suggest doing b4 rootn like sd card setup etc, again thank u

Well, you for sure need the drivers, so if you removed the drivers, just reinstall them.
Any thing on your sd card or internal memory as far as pictures, or music or whatever, just save to your computer to be safe.
Also, be sure your contacts are saved to your google account. Any apps you need saved as far as gaming etc? Any texts you need saved?

The method for root will wipe your device.
 
c what i mean i read afew posts 2 delete drivers from comp b4 i do root, SO MUCH DISINFO OUT THERE!!! now what drivers do i install b4 i start sorry 2 ask?

Not sure where you read about removing the drivers :confused:
When you download HTC Sync, the drivers come with it.
If you removed just the HTC Sync, the drivers will stay on your computer unless you removed those also.

If you removed the drivers, just download HTC Sync again...no worries. :)
 
ah ohh i installed the Drivers file, sounds like i should delete file the install htc sync. tbh im alil confused on process i do after htcdev, i no i got downgrade hboot cus im on firmware 2.3.5 s/w 5.07 and hboot 2.18, jus afterwards what is the FOOL proof way 2 root meaning which route would u go after doing htcdev step?

After you unlock the bootloader via HTCDev, you'll want to install a custom recovery, then either flash the "SU" (superuser) .zip (if you want to stay on the current rom), or flash a rom. (custom roms come with the su installed in them already)

So, in short:
1. Unlock bootloader via HTCdev.
2. Install custom recovery.
3. Flash su or a rom.
 
I got it now so i think, i was never a book smart kid at school jus show me once and im goldn thats y im a marine mechanic and do detailing aswell...
 
Hello again, I have afew questions b4 I root 2nite, i wana bsafe then sorry cus i didnt ask 4 help, here we go 1) if I only do HTCdev root since its SO SIMPLE is it possible 2 remove watermark in the future 4 warrenty issues? 2) as stated b4 i would lik wifi theter 4 free due 2 unlimited data plan now question is do I need 2 connect cord 2 cell so other device can get internet access or cell has hotspot? 3) I do not play any games or hav installed what so ever on cell, I only have antivirus, cleaner, pics, weather radar etc now i have 8GB sd Class2 installed (Can I get away wit 4GB sd)now can i Partition sd card with no issues since i do not play games which require Class6 or above also do i partition b4 or after HTCdev method?

yes but Sprint no longer cares about you being rooted. I'll have to find the link for that shortly;)

You do not need a cord, at least with MikG.

You can still utilize your 8GB/class 2 card. I'm trying to remember, but the evo has had issues with 2GB cards. No need to partition the card. The reason you would want to partition the card to ext3 or ext4 would be to run apps fully from the card. More about that later as that is a whole other discussion in and of itself;)

Not familiar with that Blackice rom, sorry, but I know Mikg works very very well.
Just remember to look for, and flash roms for, your device and carrier. My link above ( http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/618281-list-utilities-apps-roms-kernels-og-evo.html )
has alot of roms that will work for your device. :)
 
Whats up Mikestony, hows ur day goin so far? Thanks 4 ur help jus wanted 2 get afew questions answerd b4 i root, Im glad that i been readn past4 days on root info jus surprised on the amount of info there is on evo 4g and thanks again 4 posting link :) Now Im gona 2 test my skills on rooting, will keep u posted in afew mins in case I DO NEED HELP....
 
Should I do factory reset b4 htcdev method IF NOT have i checked allow unknown sources, checked fast boot, also should i disable computer firewall and antivirus or both?

No need to disable the computer firewall or antivirus, UN-check fastboot.
No need to factory reset, just be sure to save anything you need saved off of the phone. ;)

Are your contacts backed up to your google account?
Do you need any pictures saved?
Any texts need saving?

Edit; just for clarification, what does your bootloader screen say?
