Is it absolutely necessary to install SDK manager to be able to root with SuperOneClick? I've installed SDK and I'm installing the 9 packages but it's been stuck clocking on "Downloading Intel x86 Atom System Image, Android API 16, revision 1" for over an hour. Does SDK manager usually take this long to download the packages? I'm following the tutorial on:

How To Root Your Android Phone With SuperOneClick

HELP! First root....

if you are using a version of Android greater than 2.3.5 you can forget about SuperOneClick. it won't work.

as far as SDK Manager goes, you will only need that if you are using adb commands to root your phone or tablet--and that normally isn't needed unless you are using a cheap, knock-off, or entry-level device.

Rooting a device is very device specific. You'll need to let us know what device you have do we can move this to the correct forum and point you in the right direction
