Root Root Insignia Flex 8 (NS-15AT08)

Hey guys,

Just wondering if anyone has figured out how to root the new version of the Flex tablet 8 running KitKat 4.4.2.

I have tried a few different ways using one-touch, Ubuntu and Windows to try to root it, but have so far been unsuccessful.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Model: NS-15AT08
Android Version: 4.4.2
Kernel Version: 3.0.38+
Build Number: KOT49H.V01.01.00

I can't seem to make it work with adb in Linux, even after adding it's vendorid to udev to grant access (yes, I restarted udev after). This means no experimenting from the computer, unless someone else can figure it out. Any advice from you experienced Androids?

I did "discover" recovery mode through the usual Volume Up + Power method. Unfortunately, I've no experience writing Android update scripts, but maybe someone who knows how to do it can try.

I have the exact same device, I rooted it with KINGO ROOT. Quick & easy. Seems to be the only thing that works... ;-)

I'm having the same problem with this tablet not allowing me to move apps to the SD card (no button for it), and just bought these after returning two others for my daughters. I'm not a super techy person, but I've always heard bad things about rooting a device. I want to fix it, but insignia is not helping, and Heaven knows I don't wanna have to return again. Will rooting it make a button to move to the SD card or how does that work? How do I do it?? I'm afraid of ruining them.

Yes, it is the only way. You need a program called KINGO ROOT, free to download on the web. (it runs on windows 8, maybe other systems too?). No need to be tech saavy, once installed connect the tablet via USB to your pc & this program does the job easy. Once rooted, there won't be a "button" to move the apps to sd, but there are apps for rooted devices which mimic the apps to sd function. I'm using an app called FOLDER MOUNT to move app data to the sd card, it's about 2 bucks & some change for the pro version. Does the trick ;)

Would the root master apk work with flex 8 tablet

I'm hearing the sound of angels singing! I just gave Rootmaster a try, and it successfully rooted my NS-15AT07.

Assuming I'm able to post links (I haven't tried yet), I used the one from this post on the xda-dev forum, unfortunately the UI is in an Asian language, but hitting the middle button is what did the rooting.
