Root root issue: won't update binaries

Superuser won't give option to update binaries. I've turned off the notifications in preferences as suggested in another thread, also tried the superuser fix app. How do I root this phone? Been trying for days now..

If you recently (within the last month) acquired this phone, you're going to have an issue trying to root OR flash a custom recovery. It seems that when the update to 4.1.2 started rolling out; May, I believe it was, SGR's that were being either purchased or replaced, would not allow a custom recovery (ClockworkMod, TWRP, etc.) to flash onto this phone. CWM test 8 was the recovery of choice for us up until this snafu, and that's not working on ANY Reverb that comes with JB 4.1.2 out of the box, OR updates immediately after power up. It seems that all attempts thus far to root have proved futile, also.

Some users on the forum have tried different methods to root....Ministro II/Poot, Framaroot, z4root, just to name a few...and all have failed.

So at THIS point, it looks like you're gonna have to wait until a different recovery & root method are released...unless, of course, your skilled enough to come up with a solution yourself.

Not even Odin flashing works?

I heard it from Shabbypenguin framaroot worked on the Prevail2/Ring with OOB 4.1.2. It should work for this device. Lets see if someone can try it again.

Rooting Samsung Reverb pre-ootb* 4.1.2. Yes, you can root the earlier release of Reverb that has the OTA 4.1.2 JellyBean. (BTW - Ministro II, Minstro II 9.5 and Poot DO NOT WORK on a phone with JB 4.1.2 period. You will get a "No handle error 18" and a stop.)

Actually, I don't know why this CWM Recovery procedure wouldn't work on any JB 4.1.2 unless there is something "evil" buried in the code of the later Reverbs.

I had previously rooted and flashed CM 7 on LGOV successfully, but I was a bit nervous after reading all the warnings about JB 4.1.2, but it worked like a charm as Bkttk2, Tyler1998 and the ShabbyPenguin described in detail.

I will post some additional notes soon that may help explain some of the steps in the process.

HUGE THANKS TO Bkttk2, xInterlopeRx,Tyler1998, ShabbyPenguin, and others who helped sort out this process!

Yes, there is something evil buried in the code of the new JBOOB Reverbs. All of us with ICSOOB Reverbs have had no troubles rooting.
