Root [ROOT] Kindle Fire HD 7"

PLEASE HELP! I am completely illeterate with all things technical. I have a Kindle Fire HD running version 8.1.4

I want to be able to install google play games and adobe flash. I need, I'm begging for, step-by-step instructions for the technically impaired.

Otherwise, I'm hating my fire. :-(

you have the 8.9 inch KFHD ?? if so, instructions are similar but different. dont try anything thats posted for the 7' or your looking for a instant brick. this link will give you more in fo and step bby step guide for that tablet http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2191010 Good Luck!!

Running Bin4ry's script to root; I'm able to push busybox, su, and superuser, then Restore and reboot. When I boot back up and the script wants to "copy files to it's place", the next lines are:

mount: permission denied (are you root?)
You can close all command-prompts now!
After reboot, all is done! Have fun!
Bin4ry
Press any key...

Where did I go wrong? Never got a last reboot, don't have superuser installed, and don't have root. Also tried running the modified RunMe for people having the permission denied issues. Any suggestions? And just to be clear, I am running adb with no problems. I can see my device, and communicate with it (ie: "adb reboot" will reboot my device).

Running 7.2.3

EDIT: Found this fix and everything is working flawlessly! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36373627

Thanks a million for this post and step by step instuctions! YAY! KFHD IS ROOTED!!!

I'm terribly sorry if this was answered somewhere else in the thread. I'm having a REALLY hard time figuring out what's going on, and what troubleshooting has been done in this thread already that I should be doing, so I'll just post my problem.

Kindle Fire HD 7"
Firmware: 7.3.0

I run 'RunMe.bat'. I type 1, hit enter.

It goes through all the things, but everything says "The system cannot find the path specified."

When I do CMD and do adb devices, the device is listed.

EDIT: Nevermind. After trying it, like, 6 times, it worked all of a sudden. o.0; Thanks!

When it says to click restore, my Kindle still hasn't done anything. When it says it will reboot it, it doesn't.

I can't even get my kindle to restart when running the file runme.bat...it says it does not find the path...should i put the files in a particular place? thanks.

TO FOLKS HAVING ISSUES:

Check my reply earlier up in the thread. Adding C:\WINDOWS\System32 to my "path" in your environmental variables relieved my issues. And, even if you'd rather not, do a factory reset, then use to root tool.

If all goes well, you'll root. If you get the 7.3 update, allow it to happen. This exploit works in the update.

Thanks for the help...it worked! :) however, when trying to go to es explorer in Root Settings when I try to check the Root Explorer option it says failed. Is there something I missed? Thanks again.

Double check and make sure you do have Superuser installed, and binaries are up to date. To check binaries, open SuperSU and a window will pop up if they need updated.

Well, you can't be online 24/7, can you? :thumb:

haha very true ! thanks for the help aswell. im also limited because i have one kindle to help diagnose problems. itll be such a pain to root and unroot each time to figure it out. when i get a chance ill update this guide with your fix to that issue too.

any thread on how to fix the "facebook has stopped" message...i can't get on it and also the google play store does the same thing...i must have missed something...again thanks so much for your quick responses :)

something to try is clear data and cache of both apps and see if that helps. also if it doesnt. try re installing the playstore, and make sure every step is covered. happened to me and that seemed to work :D

ahh! didnt know :D . any comfirmation that rooting the kindle still works on the updated version ?

I'll tinker with it and make an edit with my findings tomorrow. :)

UPDATE: Bin4ry's v26 confirmed to work (Even on 7.3.0). But it installs ChainsDD Superuser rather than ChainFire SuperSU. No biggie, all you have to do is reinstall it from the play store if you want it.

also when doing the steps make sure that when you install market first. go into it and sign in to he market and then install gplay. that would give a fc if its not done that specific way . hope this helps and let us know :D

I want to root my kindle fire, and I have tried with other root tools like OneClickRoot and KingoRoot. They both said there was no root available for the Kindle Fire HD 5. It said it only supported android version 5.1.1. I am just making sure, will this work on my fire or will I have another error saying that my kindle is not supported. I really want my kindle fire rooted! Please help.
