Root Root missing

Hi y'all I have ATT Samsung Infuse 2.3.5 Edge. I had it rooted about 8 months ago to use with T-Mobile. All was fine for several months til I did the check for updates and there were and of course I did it. Yea I know better now. But the guy who actually rooted my phone was out of town so I took to someone he recommended. The phone works ie. calling, texting, going on the internet. When I run root checker it says not properly rooted. And I can't load any apps that require root. The phone is really slow now and my ram is a 452 mb and it is pushing max at 419 mb. The kernal is a UCKJ1. Can some tell what i can do to fix?

Any help would be great

Thanks
Anita

PS. I have been reading the post on rooting and I guess what is confusing me is the kernal the ones I have read dont mention the kernal I have. And I'm not sure about what's the right way when it's an ATT phone running on T-Mobile. Want to make sure I have all my I dotted and T crossed and headed in right direction.

Superoneclick is easiest, but unfortunately only works for Froyo if I remember right.

This thread has some options for rooting gingerbread:

The two basic options are Heimdall and Odin. Both are a little tricky and require careful reading of instructions and persistence in order to get them to work. For example if it doesn't work the first time, try with a different cord, try with a different computer, uninstall and reinstall your drivers, re-read the diretions, keep trying and it'll work. I've used one of qkster's Hemidall packages ... never used Odin.

For the Heimdall package, you absolutely (99.9%) cannot hurt your phone unless you check the box that says "flash bootloaders". So stay away from that box and jump in and give it a try... you're not going to hurt anything. The worst that happens is it doesn't work, in which case you keep trying until either it works or you give up.
