Here is how on a PC, I decided not to wait for doing it on my Mac

get Vipers zip root files here

For PC ***** like me, here is what you need to do to install drivers and get root!!

-right click computer
-opens system properties and select Hardware tab
-select device manager tab
-double click the ? mark next to the Asus android devices
-select driver tab
-update driver
-when wizard opens select "no,not at this time" to bypass wizard wanting XP disk install from a specific location so you can manually choose location
-pick where you put the drivers by navigating to the provided drivers folder and pick Android directory in the drivers folder provided
-let them install
-reboot computer
-attach Asus tablet
-click the viperMod primer tool and viola...

Root bitches!

Seeing that this is the best way to find root, I will go ahead and sticky this thread:) Even though, there's so few threads but it's meant to be stickied:D

Hey, I am new to the Android world, with my Transformer Prime being the first piece of hardware running it. For some reason I decided to root it, but have a question or two. On all the instruction on rooting, it says "install su files", but doesn't say on PC or tablet or which folder. I am sure this is a common android step, but I can't seem to find instructions when searching.

Sorry for the silly question and thanks.

Newbie, if the files are out there on the internet you can download them straight to your prime. Once they are done downloading you will still have that download icon in the tray in the lower right corner. Click on it and and choose to install. Another way would be to download it or push it from your computer and then get a file manager(Astro, etc) and find the SU files and select and then install. I am not rooted on this tablet but have rooted many phones so this so somewhat of an guess...

And what about installing straight from the market??...is that an option?

SU stands for Superuser, which is an app

Im looking to root my prime, maybe today. But i have a few questions.

  • Can you reverse the process if you don't like it or have issues?
  • I take it this root process does not effect your warranty, because it does not use a bootloader?!

Sorry for the silly questions, never rooted before. :-)
