Root on latest OTA release / Root before ICS release?

Two quick questions:

Has anyone successfully rooted the VS920ZV6 release that came out a few weeks ago (using the "one click" method that has been discussed at length). I'm wondering if Verizon changed anything in that build caused the "one click" method to stop working. I gave it a quick shot without any success (but it was late and I was buried in work so I didn't really put much effort into it).

Opinions on whether it makes sense to root the current build with ICS on the horizon? I don't know if RootKeeper works on LG phones (I always used that on my Droid X), so I'm not sure whether we would end up needing a new approach to rooting once ICS hits. I'm wondering if I should just wait for ICS to hit and them dive into the community and go from there.

This is my first LG phone. I've been a Droid user for a while (Droid, Droid X) and am very familiar with the Samsung Galaxy phones. I also run an Android tablet (Asus TF300). Anyway, I'm looking forward to playing with this phone and am really tempted to get going this weekend (just got the phone this week on a 2 for 1 deal w/ my wife) but am wondering whether you all think it is worth it or whether I should wait for ICS.

Thanks folks!

The same method worked on v6. I just installed the ics leak and its working beautifully, but I haven't tried rooting yet. I'm hoping LG didn't patch to much in v7. I'll give it a shot this evening and report back if no one else beats me to it

One click root does not currently work on ICS as they removed the /data/gpscfg/ directory that we were using for the attack vector. People have rooted the ICS, but for safety reason, it is not being released until ICS on the spectrum goes public. There is no reason to give Verizon a chance to patch it before ICS is really in our hands.
