Root phone

i do not think rooting will solve your problem. rooting will depend what chip you have.

the exynos chip can be rooted. even though the snapdragon can be rooted there are some things you will need to consider. it is better if you read this article:https://www.xda-developers.com/samsung-galaxy-s9-galaxy-note-9-snapdragon-root/

next time you might want to back things up regularly by using smart switch.

Rooting your phone will not recover lost messages. You might be able to get your phone logs from your carrier.

As for rooting that would depend on a few factors. What type of S9 plus do you have? For instance, mine is a Sprint Note 4, the model name is sm-n910p.
