Root Question

I have an LG Optimus l9 P769 TMobile using Walmart Straight Talk. I really liked the features on the phone until I upgraded to 4.1.2. Two things I don't like are 1) When you turn on the screen you get a picture list of things you have used recently that was not there with the earlier version. 2) When I go to my Contacts Icon it goes to my contacts rather than to my favoites like it use to (always goes back to contacts). I recently had the phone rooted hoping that would change things but it did not. The company that rooted it did not want to install any roms on the phone due to bugs. My question, is there a way of going back to a previous android version on this phone or will the rooting allow me to change those things I mentioned and if so, how? Thanks!
