Root s2 skryrocket running 4.0?

[skyrocketguy]

I have a Samsung Galaxy s2 skyrocket running Android 4.0 and I can not figure out how to root it. Would someone please either post or direct to me to a guide on how to root it? I have tried ten guides but all have failed. I wish I had never updated...

What failed with the guides? Have you checked xda developers forums?

[skyrocketguy]

Yes I have checked those forums. The failure was when I would boot into recovery and try to run the zip folder but it wouldn't read the sd card in recovery.

needs to be on the internal SD card, not external.

How do i do this?

[ExtremeNerd]

Move the zip folder from the external SD storage to your internal SD storage.

I don't think I have an external sd card? There is no sd card in the sd card slot in the back of the phone?

Google is your friend. It took me 5 minutes to find that you DON'T have to root your phone to install custom firmware. Here's a link to XDA with all the info you need. Good luck.
