Root Root Speeded Up My GT540

ok, I know this will sound daft and I read somewhere about this and the general gist of the replies was that it couldnt possibly be so...

but...

I rooted my GT540 (2.1) with z4root yesterday and it HAS improved myphone.

I have done nothing else whatsoever but my phone is deffinately about 25% faster.

I have had this phone for nearly a year on 2.1 and use it to text, email, call, guide my car down the road, track my calorie intake and exercise, play chess, brush my teeth, cook my dinner so believe me when I say that I know the speed of the phone how it used to be and I know it has certainly changed.

I see no reason why rooting would do this - but then again - Ii am a noob at all this - but an intelligent noob that is now chuffed to have a faster phone.

I dunno, has rooting freed up some permissions or ties that were dragging the phone down - I dont know... but... well... its all good. :-)

I don't think the fact that you rooted actually sped up the phone.. Must be just a coincidence, because if an app wanted root permissions, you'd see the Superuser window pop up asking if you want to allow/deny root permissions. Otherwise I'm glad to hear things are faster for you! :D

I completely agree. I really do, but I cant explain it. Just read your post and messaged around quickly moving between apps etc etc and its still 25% faster. Havent got a clue what has happened as I havent changed anything.

The only viable explanation is that I removed 2 apps from my phone to make sure I had room for z4root. But after I rooted I removed z4root and put those 2 apps back on so I cant say they were to blame for slowing the phone down.

Still gonna try and figure this out because its baffling to me.

Will report back with anything I find out - but for all readers - I am NOT guaranteeing rooting will make your phone any faster - but something odd has occured with my phone so take my initial post as the unexplained odd occurance it is and dont rely on what I have said.

Strange really, I should be overjoyed my phone is so much faster but instead I am desperate to know why. lol
