Root root to Froyo... will upgrade to GB disable wifi tether

mefnj

Newbie
i achieved root and was able to get wifi tether to work with my iPad

as i am deciding on which GB to upgrade to, i wanted to ask if the upgrade is going to disable wifi tether... i read around a few places that it might.

any advice or confirmation?

thanks,
-m

Wifi tether is rom independent, as there are apps that can be used to tether, no matter which rom(android OS) you are on.

well it was working with Froyo, but after i reverted back to GB, it is not working ... this is the version from the Google Play store (i think it is 3.2-beta). ipad sees phone wifi network and connects to phone. wifi strength is running around -25 to -40, which is only a bit lower than my home wifi, which works great with the ipad. tries to load webpages, then says website timed out after some period of time.

do i need to download/install another version from here?

Downloads - android-wifi-tether - Wireless Tether for Root Users - Google Project Hosting

if so, i've never done direct installs of .apk files... any suggestions?

any other advice?:(

p.s. forgot to mention... the phone itself can get to websites just fine, so i am connected to the internet enough to do that
