Root Root took 24hrs (my own stupidity)

downgrade

Newbie
First of all I would like to thank all the contributors to the forum as through a mix and match of posts I was finally able to root my phone and apply CYM 7.1.

To cut a long story short I was stupid enough to try to root an already rooted phone, for some reason the ROM that was applied did not allow super user access (I know this is an oxymoron), I was trying through terminal but I was getting "# permission denied"... I finally downgraded the phone, removing root through RUU and then started from scratch...all the wiser now.

All's well that ends well!!

I realised my mistake when checking my friends phone, we bought them from the same place at the same time. I was able to apply the new radio and rom in 10 mins. Before anyone askes we live in China.

hi and welcome.

good job. Congrats for working through it and sorting out your issue.
enjoy cm7 :-)

cheers

Sorry, but that is pretty funny. A massive Doh! moment. All's well that ends well though.

You can buy rooted phones in China? That's pretty handy. Are they sold as new or as refurbs/used?

I too manage to root my phone last nite thanks to SUroot's rooting guide. What's next? After reading through Apps2sd+ FAQ, i find it too complicated for me to execute. At least for the moment :D so
i'm hoping to get some good advise looking for good rom that does not require me to perform too many complicated tasks. I want something fast and offers more internal memory and also stability.

i'm still running on Android 2.2
Bravo PVT4 Ship S-ON
Hboot 0.93.0001
Radio 5.09.05.30_2
software 2.13.707.2

Yes unless you go to the official stores or more reputable stores most likely you will be getting your hands on an already rooted phone sold as new. The price is much cheaper than the RPP. This is nothing compared to what can happen... I bought an Iphone as new only to find out 3 months later some of the parts had been switched... the battery they replaced was a health hazard!!!

The Apps2sd and S2E were a little daunting at first but once set up everything is running smoothly and I have increased my memory... I can't suggest the best ROM as I have only tried out CM7 I found this site to be quite at describing the main roms around

http://http://www.roms-au.com/ I was on the site the other day but just now it didn't show

Yeah, it is a daunting process especially for a dummy like me :D... I prefer for a start, find something safe that i can just flash and get comfy with it. Probably later once I can digest the whole process, then i might be ready to go a step further
