Root ROOT..trying to understand it all

mojoekai

Lurker
Ok..first off let me say i searched and read what i can but nothing really hit the nail on the head about what i'm looking for.
Ok current phone:
razr maxx
6.16.211..en.us
4.0.4
rooted yesterday

I installed the basics Ti Back up...performed full back up
ROM Man...tried to install ClockeworkMod Rec..but says sorry no OFFICAIl version. so i can't do a rom back up (i think, from what i've read)

end state....i wanna be faster and flash custom roms and cool things i read about. :)
But everywhere i'm reading most are talking about ICS's before .211

I've never flashed roms or kernels. Soo 1, i hoping Ti back up is good enough soo when ever i do flash i can re install my apps and such(if that's even correct)
2. dont have the popular ones...like goo man recovery or clockwork rec...
Soo basically is there much mods i can do some what saferly or just leave it rooted and what till OFFICIAL revocery and roms come out??
just a little lost of what to do next now i'm rooted...can't overclock..need non-stock kernel...can't really custom other them themes b/c rom...sooo root did what for me if i can't install new stuff?

sorry it's long but heads spinning...:confused:
thanks for any advice...

Next step before flashing roms is to install safestrap, or bootstrap. I prefer safestrap as there's more options.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

Not wanting to.be a complete noobie,
Well installed strap...have two back ups..one on sd and one internal...
Now i wanna flash a faster rom or something... can someone dumby proof the next step..where to.download..install and use custom rom...thanks..just first time...little nervous :)

I host a razr rom here called bionx, so if u want 24/7 support, id recommend mine. My rom is based off of the stock rom so guarantee to work.
However...

Droidrzr.com features a whole slew of roms made for different users. Some roms are still buggy and based off of aosp, cm9, cm10, and homebrew like mine so.
Think on what you wish to have, what features, looks and support for the rom.

Thanks a lot.
I was wondring what boinx was!! Lol i thought it was another moto phone ive never seen.
Ok so boinx rom is ok on my razr. 211

Your thinking of the Bionic (no i did not name that after my rom, i actually named my rom the day the bionic was released and i was bewildered but kept the name.)
