Root Root/Update done rite the SECOND time

Nephilium

Lurker
I'd like to update to the official ICS update via "system updates" & would like to know the proper procedure to keep my root.

After bricking my first Maxx, I received my new one yesterday & had it rooted 15 minutes after the fedex man dropped it off. (using Matts 1.6 utility)
This time around I have NOT installed boot/safe strap.
The only installed apps requiring a root are, Titanium pro, voodoo OTA Rootkeeper, Root explorer, also root checker.
Root have been verified, su backup has been verified, NO logwrapper.bin has been verified.
Also I have never strayed from the stock rom.

Is this possible to do with what I have?
Do I just simply goto rootkeeper, select "temp, un-root" then update?

Yes you can try the temp unroot before ota update, but from all reports you will lose root after ota ics update.

But download Matts droid utility 1.7 extract all on pc install drivers then open bat file select option 3to root 4.0.4 ics.

I would love to get the new 1.7, unfortunately the link is hidden till you register & sign in (I presume) & my registry conformation is stuck somewhere (been several hours)

WOO HOO! :D
Worked perfectly!
Did a final check on root/unroot, had an issue with Titanium not having root access before the update. But that was cured with an uninstall/reinstall of the license.
All good, root restored, apps all there & working :D

Mine did too FWIW.

Glad to hear you got it working OP and welcome to AF!

So am i wrong in understanding that the .211 ota will end su privledges?

From some reports rootkeeper didnt restore root. Or did i misunderstand?

I think it has to do with how up-to-date all your root programs were/are. If you rooted with motofail you should have been ok. I've heard of issues with people using pre-motofail root methods that were having problems. :)
