Just wanted you to know there is a root without unlocking out for JB. It will root in about a minute.
As with all mods I am not resposible if you choose to do this.

Also check out this thread on tweekjng the stock rom. I can tell you this stuff works. The author of this thread is making big changes to this guide tonight so if you do root hold off on doing any tweeks until he post up the new information.
