Root Root without using volume buttons?

Volume buttons are crucial for the preparation and post root maintenance. As I have said to everyone else who has asked this, I strongly urge you not to try

Does anyone reckon I could "snap" my phone open or something, try to repair the volume buttons? If not then I guess updating to Gingerbread from the HTC website will be better than nothing.

Or send it to HTC for repair - as they offer a 2 year warranty, as long as it isn't water-damaged they should do this for you.

Opening it up and trying to fix it yourself definitely voids the warranty, and of course carries the risk of making things worse.
