Help Root

bking8091

Lurker
---Does anyone know how can I root this device without a computer, safely and without messing up my phone? I have looked and researched the internet for days and I have yet to find out if it is even possible on this particular device. Anyone's help would be greatly appreciated.

STYLO 2 K540
Country: us
Brand: lge
Model: LG-K540
Device: ph1
Version: 1.1.3 (release 14)
Locale: English (United States)
Android version: 6.0.1

Because it's Marshmallow 6.0.1, things like Kingroot(NOT recommended anyway), aren't going to work. That's one thing that Google has done to Marshmallow, to ensure that it's not easily rooted/pwned by one-click easy exploit methods. Basically to try and stop malicious apps sneakily rooting devices and installing nasty payloads in system. Which is what some of these "free" Chinese one-click root apps do as well, put adware and spyware in system, e.g. KingUser.

Apparently Nougat 7.0 is not going to be rootable at all.

There's a lengthy thread about rooting Stylo 2 in the ATR forum

With a recent post basically stating, if you want root, don't update to 6.0.1.

Thanks, Mike.....I just got this phone so I assumed the latest platform would be the best choice. I have noticed that other phone models can supposedly root with Marshmallow but I'm relieved to know this so I can stop worrying myself with it and move on with my life. Lol..... Thx again!!!!

A few Marshmallow phones have been successfully rooted, by more conventional and safe means, rather than OS exploits, which is usually unlocking the bootloader and flashing an appropriate custom recovery for the device.

Another danger with Chinese "free" one-click exploit methods, besides the possible adware and malware with them, is there's a real risk of bricking the device, some of which can be irreparable and end up buying a new phone.

Root is inherently risky because of what it does and how it does it. So no rooting method will be 100% "safe".
Beyond that, as mentioned the "easy" no-PC roots are the most dangerous as the developers are shady and often out to grab your data during the process. The only root methods you should use are the ones that require a PC and are known to be reputable (i.e. CF root) as long as they are available for your device. If for whatever reason you are either unable or unwilling to do it that way I'd suggest leaving it alone.
