Root Root

HTTR

I made it a week and now I need to get this thing rooted. I have researched and am reading all of the guides. Is it as easy as the below? Other devices that I have rooted were much more difficult.

If this roots the device, just wipe and then flash a ROM along with gaps? Will the rooting get me the CWR?

just download the attached file, extract it using winzip/winrar

go to the folder where its extracted and execute "RUNME.bat"

read and follow the instructions on the screen!

Thanks

If you have the programs needed on your computer and they are configured correctly, getting root is that easy, ROMs not so much from my research.

So rooting will just get me "super user" access. Allow removal of bloat, enable tether and can remove ads, BUT will still be running stock ROM and kernel?

If/when system updates arrive, can they be downloaded while rooted?

The user interface (stock) is fine with me if I can just get rooted and still use the upates.

Thanks

Yes to most everything.

However, to install updates, ALL stock system files must be clean and untouched. Rooting throws a mix into all of that.

Yes, you can remove/freeze bloatware. Yes, you can use adfree to block ads.

Tethering without paying for the tethering plan from VZW however, can't be discussed on AF per the direct direction of the OWNER of the site as he considers "theft of service." Full explanation here.

Once rooted, the OTAs will typically fail because system apps and settings have been changed.

That being said, typically within a few days of updates being released developers have a rooted version able to be installed.

Gotta add that just rooting will NOT cause an OTA update to fail, it's the end user monkey'ing <-New word, with files AFTER said root.

Root is the key to the door, the monkey is the end user walking in.:D
