Hiya

ive recently been considering rooting my galaxy ace and am wondering what are the advantages of rotting it. Also ive been told that cyanogenmod isnt available for the ace is this true???

thanx

By rotting the ACE, you get advantage of customizing your phone and also allows you to install other tweaks so as to apply many other themes and also you can install the specific apps which require the rooting access.

Thanks so basically it gives you more control, although ive heard that there can be problems associated with rooting is this true?

I rooted my phone recently installed CWM and Titanium Back up. was able to take the whole backup of the phone and everything was good. moved all my apps to sd card as well. I didn't want to try any Rom's coz i heard they are very buggy and since Ace is my only primary phone i want to be able to keep it up and running all the time. I suddenly started getting problems and i suspected it was coz i moved some apps which are meant to be on phone memory. I had the backup so i restored the full phone from CWM. then i tried to unroot the phone but no luck, tried it for some days and then finally decided to flash official 2.3.6 firmware. now i have a unrooted phone as good as new.
so i would say if you want to try out something new on your phone then go ahead, there are lots of things you can do with it and its very simple and be sure what you are doing before you to it otherwise you might brick your phone..

LOL!!!!
So, in a nutshell aceuserr don't do it!!;)
I've never tried & don't intend to. Every forum has a huge section about how to sort out the mess caused by rooting your phone & attempting to add various ROM's etc...:D My signature refers! Having said that, if you are adventurous (the essence of Android) & don't mind the sleepless nights, then give it a try, but do keep a backup......... Graham :)

thanx alot for all the responses i think ill give it a miss until i decide to get rid of it where i can just screw around with it thanx again :)

I agree completely. Although I find it pretty annoying I can't do with the phone whatever I want (like a superuser) I don't find it worthwile taking the risks you can read a lot about. Graham's signature says it all! But of course there are lots of people who love to try everything there's possible. By all means, enjoy and root along!
(And Graham, obviously you're having a lot of fun reading all the threads. The sound of your LOL's is crossing the North Sea, I can hear them from here!).

so its not just me who thinks rooting is not really required on our phones well i would really give it a go if i had a spare phone with me but since i don't i like my phone and i also like the stock Rom and also find the touch wiz far more batter then other launchers... I would consider installing a custom rom in the future though..not sure when sammy boy will stop supporting our phone and hope CM will come up with something gr8 and less buggy.
