Root rooted, but wireless tether doesn't work

Anyone else have this problem? I rooted my phone simply for the fact of free wireless tethering, it worked great for the first week or so, then all of the sudden my wireless tether just seemed to slow to a crawl or not even connecto to my computer, I have EasyTether for USB tethering, but after awhile of USB tethering, my phones battery is completly drained, it shuts itself off, and i have a temp gauge flashing at me. So I figure if I can wirelessly tether with my phone on the charger I'll be sitting alright, but right now, nothing, I have both barnacle and wireless tether, and neither of them work anymore, half the time it wont even connect to my computer, the other half of the time when it does connect, its so ungodly slow its useless. Anyone know what happened, or if verizon sent out a "silent update" over the past few days.

BTW phone is just rooted, no custom rom or kernal

i have experianced the same thing.. i mean i can connect i lil more than half the time, but the net is slow as h3!! i cant even watch anything on you tube anymore:'(.. im thinking it might have somthing to do with my prl but i got the most recent 32100 and 38888.. still slow.. even in the eris and off the desktop...

if your talking about barnacle wireless tether, thats the app im having problems with, and when I type in barnacle on the marketplace, all that comes up is the app I already have, and then a widget
