hey, well i rushed into messing with my phone and i got froyo on it, idk much about this stuff and i did not back anything up. ive tired everything ive seen on google and the forum but i cant undo what i did. so my question is: is what i have good? ive seen a lot of buz about cognition i think i want that. i have oclf. quadrant says i went from 850ish to 950ish with froyo then 1700-1900 with oclf but it doesnt seem any faster to me

about phone:
firmware- 2.2
baseband-i897ucji6
kernel-2.6.32.9
build #-froyo.ucji6

when i try to use the 3 button thing to reinstall packages it always ends saying failed to verify whole-file signature.

Go to XDA forums, learn how to Odin back to stock. Then start over.

i did now i cant get into recovery mode. :(

EDIT: searched for a bit and found someone that had the same issue, it was resolved after an att update and restart. so before i rush into this like last time and making it 3x more difficult can i get some rom advice please. what is a good rom to put on my captivate?

There are about 3 different ways to get in Recovery mode. My first try had results about like yours. Finally had to do the battery remove thingy. Query XDA for the recovery methods. Once you get a "good" ROM on the phone, you'll like it. :p

i decided to go ahead and get cognition 3.0.4 and my phone seems a lot faster. my quadrant score is only 1550-1650 (down from 1650-1850 pending on what i was doing) but this time my phone actually seems faster rather then just a number on the test.

Quadrant scores are meaningless. It's a bad benchmark easily skewed artificially by modern CPUs and lagfix techniques. To the point where DesignGears (the maker of Cognition) is likely to flame you and tell you to use some other ROM if you even mention "quadrant" in one of this threads. ;)

Yep, Cog seems to be one of the best liked. I've used Assonance, Serendipity, and now Paragon. They're all good but I'm staying with Paragon for now because everything works..........including voice dial over bluetooth!!

:p

lol, i really didnt think my phone was faster after getting my really high scores on it.. now it's actually is faster!

is there an app or some way to overclock it now, something simple not messing with to many stats or settings i can mess up. like a high medium low, for battery life/speed? then i think im all done i like my phone a whole lot more because of cog3.0.4

If the rom didn't come with a voltage app, I wouldn't put one on it. Some ROMs don't take well to over clocking or under volting. Just my opinion.

:p Paragon and others come with voltage control built in. You might check out the cog thread on xda and see if anyone is doing it.

i believe cog is on the firebird kernel which is not overclock-able. and overclocking is not needed, its a waste of battery and there are problems with it sometimes.

is it worth getting a rom to over clock or keep what I have. I do seem to be usin more ram. Thanks for the help guys lot of sec love in this thread. Go gators
