Root Rooted Razr, OTA update?

I rooted a friend's Droid Razr a couple of months ago. I'm wondering if he can go ahead with the OTA update or if he should wait for me to remove Clockwork mod and root. If so, what method do you all recomend I use? I don't remember off of the top of my head what method I used to root, but the word Motofail does come to mind.

I fast-booted mine last night just in case; I didn't want to miss it. I was rooted at one point but removed it some time back because I didn't use it. It only takes a few minutes to do. I've read a couple installs failing so far, not sure if it's because of root though. I know in the past it's been ok to have root.

As long as he does not have any apps removed or any important ones frozen he should be ok, after update I would go in stock recovery and wipe data/factory reset. He will have to set phone up again but at least he will start clean.
