Oh boy, this won't end well.I remember reading somewhere that if my droidx is rooted I an tether my phone to my laptop for free and with unlimited data transfer. Is there any truth behind this and if so what do I need to do it.
Oh boy, this won't end well.
I sugest you do a search here. This topic has been discussed many times, along with the moral and legal implecations of such. During the Gingerbread update, Verizon blocked the tethering apps from working. There are workarounds. On Froyo, just download an app from the marketplace and run it.
I'm not going to be the moral police and try to tell others what to do. I break the law daily by speeding. But using rooted tethering solutions IS "theft of service", and is illegal. Doubtful that Verizon is prosecuting, but they might slap you with some fees or cancel your service.
I see well I didn't realize that I just assumed it was another perk to rooting... nevermind then I suppose
I have no moral issues occasionally using it. When I go camping, tethering is great in the RV. Even with 3 weeks of tethering due to PCS and no home service moving across the country, I did 2.3 gigs.
Well my data usage just on my phone in a months time exceeds 2g I can imagine my computer is far more which is why the whole pricing for it on my bill annoys me I don't have an issue paying for it but the least they could do is not limit my usage. As a trucker I spend alot of time away from reliable internet connections.
And this is why beginning July 7 you will begin to pay more for the amount of data you download. Thirty dollars for 2G and $10 more for each additional gig. Of course, you can go for the 5G or 10G package at $50 and $80 respectively.
Are you serious?
