Root rooted thunderbolt software update help

I recently bought an HTC thunderbolt from craigslist. Apparently the phone is rooted because when I tried to do the ota update, the phone kept shutting off on me over and over. I was forced to factory reset it which solved the turning off problem. I'm a noob when it comes to phone rooting and jail breaks and stuff. Is it still possible to update without any problems? Or am I stuck like this? Any sort of help and suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'm at work at the moment, but I will give you a more detailed response later. To start with, what is the information in your hboot screen ?

Edit: Never mind. The information I'd posted wasn't 100% correct and I'd rather not lead you down the wrong path. I'll let scotty85 reply.

in a nutshell,your 2 options are:
1)manually update by flashing a rom in recovery, and radios via bootloader

2)unroot,and let the OTA occur naturally

to go into more detail about either,we need the info from your hboot screen :)
