Hey
I am running a Rogers Captivate with stock 2.2 and am looking to root. The problem is that I only have access to a mac. I have tried running Superoneclick root on Vmware Fusion and Virtualbox virtual machines. The problem is I can only connect the phone to these machines in mass storage mode. When I run the program it hangs on "waiting for device". I have tried the mac Oneclick root app, but it does not work with 2.2. I was wondering if anyone had run Superoneclick on mac using Mono, rooting with a virtual machine, or using an alternate method? I have searched various forums looking for a video or 'how-to' thread to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Edit: Hey, just a heads up to mac users with this issue. I downloaded the trial version of Parallels, installed the drivers and it worked. The phone connected with no issues and I was able to connect it to Kies and Superoneclick!
Edit 2: The phone drops connection when in download mode on virtual machine. Had to install bootcamp partition and work from there.
