Rooting a Chinese-made phone

If anybody can, I need to figure out how I can root my unlocked mini I9082 phone (Samsung Galaxy S lookalike), whose chipset is MTK6516 and it runs 4.0.5 Ice Cream Sandwich? I have no idea how after searching the whole internet for the adb drivers and the instructions for those.

This is the phone I'm mentioning that I have bought on ebay 2 weeks ago, and currently in my possession:

Like I said, it's already factory unlocked

The thing with unknown phones like that is that developers dont waste their time learning to exploit them.
I hope you do get it rooted but i think its doubtful

Most come rooted out of the box. Two D2 pads, mach speed trio, one emerson 4.3 pre-rooted. But you can forget custom ROMs. Rooting them just overcomes performance problems (over clock) and allows devs to test hacks and mods on a cheap, easily replaceable tablet/phone without worries of bricking an expensive flagship

I know, but HOW can I root it? As it keeps showing Chinese spamware, and some preinstalled games I wanna get rid of

A cute little penguin wearing a red scarf? ...it's not Tux. Think what you got was really intended for use here in China. ...especially given that it came from Ebay.

Unless an exploit can be found to root this device, there's not a lot can be done about it. Thing is most of the time, devs just don't bother with them, and concentrate their efforts on the well-known and popular devices like real Samsungs, etc.

For your information you might want to read our forum sticky about these things...

also try this vid. the problem will be locating the device driver if your pc doesn't automatically install it. can't help you there beyond suggesting that your pc device manager can try to find it.

not that this has anything to do with you....but i recently rooted a chinese phone. i had to load a motorola driver. go figure.

After I installed, and failed to look for its device, this is what I faced:

And after I followed every step:

Not to mention that my pc runs Win7 Home Premium 64bit

Since I have a twisted history with these chinese tablets I can probably help, you can try a rooting program called UnlockRoot, I used that program for my first chinese tablet about 2 months ago because all the other ones(oneclickroot etc.) said it couldn't root it, but unlockroot did, so thats really sorta your last resort.

You don't need to connect the phone to your PC to use Z4. Just download the APK to your phone and run it. If Z4 says it was successful, download and install a root checker to make sure.

I got Play Store and their various apps working on my Mach Speed Trio cheapie, after some tricks. I'd use a root checker on yours to find out if it came rooted as all of mine did. If you need assistance getting Play working, feel free to drop me a PM and I can link to the XDA thread for the APKs. I play with budget devices often just to see what I can do with them. As for custom ROMs and recoveries, I'm still working on those. Need some more guinea pig tablets as I actually use my Trio and don't want to brick it (yet)
