Root Rooting an Xperia S LT26

Good afternoon all

have an Xperia S lt26 running 4.1.2 build 6.2.b.1.96

Would like to install KitKat but left in the lurch by Sony!

New roms sound really good, but can someone explain who to root and then install a new room in layman's terms
