Root rooting and factory setting, please read!

hi, i attempted to root my device, i came into problems that made me think it was hard bricked but i'm also getting suggestions that i have power management problems as my phone doesn't respond to anything (phone state is unresponsive, doesn't turn on, doesn't respond to anything), anyway i'm selling my device as faulty and as i cannot access my device, i remote wiped it, it said that when the device is next turned on it will factory reset it but my question is if i cannot factory reset it from the settings on the phone as rooting stops that from happening, will the remote wipe run into problems wiping it? i need to know this as i don't want to sell my phone to a new owner if my data is still on there
thanks

Nothing, nothing at all, when you try and switch on? No buzz, light, flash or anything at all? If it really is that dead I would try another battery I knew was charged, it is a rare event to completey and utterly brick a device into oblivion totally.

Presuming it can be saved by a professional who knows what they are doing with the correct equipment (unlikely given it is that dead, but not unheard of) I would expect a complete wipe and reflash of the correct firmware would be forced on to it via a Jtag unit or similar. This would render the phone as new out of the box condition with a tripped Knox flag (0x1) and no previous data on it.

If it really is that dead though I suspect a motherboard failure. Replacement of that would change your phones identity and not be economically viable. Basically it can be done, but like a completely destroyed car wreck - it isn't worth repairing. This too would wipe (replace hardware wise where your data and media was stored in fact) your device.

hi, thanks for replying, i have heard of a jtag box and actually got in contact with them, problem is, there company is based in the USA unfortunately.
My phone was, i would probably call it half bricked as it would not connect to the computer as it would say "can't recognize USB device". apart from that the phone seemed to do what a phone would normally do until i replaced the dock connector in the phone and it just completely died, because the phone was switched off when i was replacing the dock connector, and after i replaced it, went to turn the phone on and it was just completely unresponsive, no flash, no buzz. although i did get a galaxy logo come up for a few seconds sometimes rarely and then it would disappeared, now nothing happens and i would suggest the battery life has completely run out now so maybe that means when replacing the dock connector, it has damaged the power managing IC or made it hard bricked. What do you think?

It sounds like you are saying.
1. It was broken.
2. You tried a hardware repair with the battery installed.
3. Now it is completely dead.

If that is the case it is probably now beyond repair.

hi, no i went to root my device and after that, the root failed and then problems started from there
1. went to root device and root failed
2.problems i was getting was that the device was struggling to connect to the laptop, and download mode wouldn't work and it would only charge through laptops (not wall sockets) but it was still functioning as a useful phone.
3. i didn't do anything about the problem above for a month or so until i ordered a new dock connector to replace the old one. the phone was working at the time until i switched it of to replace the old dock connector.
4. i replaced it the same was other people would replace theirs, meaning the battery was disconnected from the phone at the time
5. put the phone back together with the new dock connector installed and tried to switch the phone on but nothing would happen, completely unresponsive until on rare occasions, when trying to turn the device on i would get a galaxy boot logo appear for a few seconds and then the screen would go blank.
6. now i don't get anything response to anything from the device, i think this might be because the battery has run out of life.

i hope this will be more detail for you to help me further
thanks
