Root Rooting and Formatting

So quick basic question really. I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0, and I want to root it, see how I like it, and if I do, I'd root my Samsung Galaxy 4 as well. If I do root them, will it format the device so it's a clean slate, or will all the apps and various things I have saved to them still be there, and I have to uninstall all the shovelware that comes preinstalled?

Nothing will change, except that you'll be able to run apps that need root. All your apps, settings, texts, everything, will stay as they are.

Try Kingo It's easy (except for downloading it - the server can be really slow), it works and, if you decide you don't need to be rooted, it'll unroot just as easily.

BTW, once you're rooted, you won't notice a thing change. Nothing happens. The tab (or phone) works exactly the same as it did before. The ONLY difference is that apps that need root will work. Apps that don't need root - all the apps you're running now - won't see any difference.

If you have no particular reason to run an app that needs root, you're voiding the warranty for no reason.

Most of the reason I'm routing is I have a 8gb tab with a 32 GB micro SD in it, and I want to transfer apps and other stuff to the sd and android ice cream sandwich won't let me. And I have a trigger so on my phone that has some features I want to access that need rooted access. Also I really want rid of the preinstalled apps that take up too much space.
