Root Rooting and LTE

I take that back. It is already enabled. It wasn't originally when it first came to my store.

You have LTE in your area? I thought it wasnt even launched at all yet...ive never seen any 4g whatsoever lol.

It was launched in 5 cities on the 15th, mostly in Texas. (just read recently that they expanded the release to a bunch more.) Atlanta is another, where I'm at, and let me tell you, having never experienced LTE before.. LTE is FAST! I ran a few speed tests on it, and it runs about the same down as Comcast's 12mbp (boosts up to 20), even though all the tests I ran averaged about 23mbp down, but the up.. lol try almost 10mbp up, which kicks Comcast's ass on the up. I still find that funny that my wireless runs about the same (if not a little better) as my hardwired broadband. Man have times changed over the past 20 years.. I feel old now, lol

Nice ...you talking bits or bytes? Alot of people do the speed tests and compare to broadband internet mistakenly...anyway sprint supposidely has 4g in my region of new York and that lte is coming soon..still never seen a 4g signal though lol..overall i like this phone alot...removed most sprint bloatware after rooting..can't wait for a stable cwm though...i got friends working on it...

Try megabauds, hence the mbPs. ;) (still trying to figure out where the p comes from, tho, lol) And, no, trust, I'm not mistaken, friend. I have 2 years andy dev, 6 years of phone mod, and 15 years legal (27 years technically) of IT experience, including networking, the last decade of that includes broadband technology experience. No, lol, no mistake. :-)

As for your lte signal, try going a few blocks in any direction, and see if you get it. Sprint's all-digital platform is THAT specific.. I go halfway into the front yard and ours picks up, but not inside. Lol

CWM? Would be nice if someone got it before me, but I've found that I tend to be a bit of a perfectionist, so my releases tend to be bugless. I hope your friends are the same way. I honestly don't care who gets it first, just that it works.

Anyways, it's been fun. I'm back off to bed.

Ty for info, and believe me im gonna make sure its 100% bug free, Catch up w/ ya later, sounds like we have a lot in common..(THE CWM that we/they are having the most luck/progress with is TOUCH suprisingly...anyway ttyl)

EDIT: Im in Orange County NY ( UPSTATE ), and even on my Girls regular 4g phone, we NEVER see any 4g signal all over the county, therefore I was curious, and I only said all that b/c have had to explain to many people on my prior forum who were getting certain speed test results on regular 3g, thinking its 100x faster then home broadband, and kindly correcting them...anyway sprint's website claims some upgrades in my area soon...current address shows 3 towers nearby and signal still SUCKS, im moving in 3 days and that area shows ONE tower, all i can say is thank g*d I switched from boost to sprint so i can ROAM, lol.

Yeah man, no problem. What I did was have mine elevated to a network engineer, via tech support. Might want to give that a shot. They're SUPPOSED to be tweaking my area soon. *rolls eyes* lol

Mbps is megabits per second. The viper won't pick up a wimax 4G signal and a wimax phone won't pick up an lte signal.

All of sprints lte phones come with lte turned off by default.

You're right about the abbreviations, I'm old-school on that, lol. (had to look it up, lol)

Actually, there is one thing I'm considering trying, but not about to mess up my phone, lol.. I have an NS4G and using qpst, you can actually reprogram the hardware for lte, lol, but I would have to do some deep research and find the bands (along with some other settings) that are used..

As for lte being turned off by default, true, but I found a hack around it, and can get the LTE to stay on, but lose voice connection then because the hack kicks on LTE ONLY.. I taught my girl how to use the hack, though, so she can turn it on and off when she wants.

It's pretty easy:

create custom shortcut on the deskop->activities->IOT Hidden Menu->IOT Hidden Menu

There's all sorts of settings you can change in there that are normally hidden, BUT, PROCEED WITH CAUTION! If you change something you're not sure of, you could lose connection altogether! (stated for people that want to play around with the settings, not you directly, man)

n0ve: If you have troubles with your NAM again, you may want to look into this.

Later for now all!

Correct and incorrect lol. First part..yes its bits I said that earlier. Second....zvd stock setting is evdo+lte now...but sinceits not wimax it's not a huge difference battery wise if your not in an lte area.
Edit: I'm referring to phones coming from factory on zvd with network setting set to cdma/eVdo + lte..
Not strictly lte unless you go through the hidden menu config.

Believe it or not, I recently learned that serial ports are being used to fix bad esns on sprint phones, lol. I don't know the specifics, but saw a vid on youtube.

And yeah, been playing with that menu. Interesting stuff there.. :)

So what's the latest on cwm, etc..? Anything?

Sorry, I've been out of the loop due to busy schedule, and now, I'm in the process of moving.. No fun..
