Rooting and Official Updates :S ?? noob question?

Hi there, im new to rooting and android in actual fact. Loving everything about it so far, being an IOS person beforehand.

My question is simple - i think

If i root my phone (which i have done) and i install/flash a rom to say Jellybean 4.2.2 - im currently on 4.1.2 on my GS3, what happens when samsung bring out the official update to that software number :S ?

Generally speaking if you root, install a custom ROM and recovery, it will by default block any OTA updates.
