Root Rooting and Official Updates

Probably an obvious question, but seeing as how I still don't even have the phone yet, how would I know?

If I root my phone (no custom ROMs, etc), can I still update via OTA, Kies, or other normal methods? I've heard that you can, but you lose root... wouldn't that issue be made trivial by one-click-root programs? (Or does the update cause issues with this?) Would I have to unroot, update, then reroot?

I was rooted and the JH7 update applied fine. I lost root though and had to re-root.

Whether this experience will continue with future updates, we have no idea as they have not been released yet. Samsung and/or AT&T may change something about the install process.
