Root Rooting and Unrooting

I've managed to get myself 595 stock, obviously got there by rooting.

I had to sbf back to current Froyo at one point, I noticed the second time through I didn't have to do z4root, apparently the z4 root stuck.

Does this mean I'm forever rooted? If I ever need to turn my X COMPLETELY back to stock, aside from SBFing, what else needs to happen to cancel root priveleges?

you shouldn't have to do anything else..SBF'ing should remove root.
 
no it means you didnt reboot after you installed z4root, you have to reboot after z4root or it does get stuck, once you reboot and you try to perm root again you will be fine :)
 
In my case it didn't remove root. Heck I even had the Code Corrupt error and ran into big trouble.
 
sbfing does in fact remove root, however with a code corrupt error it doesnt remove root because it doesnt flash the partition back to the way it was. the only thing you need to do is redownload the full sbf of 2.3.340 and try it again :)

aha!, thanks for clarifying..

thought i missed something there.
 
easiest way is to go to the market download terminal emulator
and type in su
if you see the $ turn into a # sign you are rooted :)
 
I'm trying to run Z4root now in 595 stock, it runs for a while, then says force close. Apparently not working. Attempting to apply root is the last thing it says, and that's up for a while.
 
I've rebooted, uninstalled, rebooted, reinstalled, rebooted, pulled battery, everything. Still hangs on attempting to apply root.
 
you cannot root with z4root, you have to use gingerbreak, which can be found on this forum, im at work so i dont have time to look for it :( sorry
