Rooting cellphone - My Device

Actually it wasn't an unreasonable request. Your problem and the original posters' are quite unrelated, so posting to their thread doesn't help them get a solution to their problem, and could cause distraction and confusion. It's much better if different problems have different threads.

As for your problem, yes, further information helps, both in identifying the cause (e.g. is it incoming as well as outgoing calls, what exactly happens when you try to make the call?) and saving us from suggesting things you've already tried (rebooted the phone, removed and replaced the SIM, tried the SIM in a different handset to identify whether the problem is the phone or the service, spoken to your service provider).

@AMOCO, can brenda's posts and replies to them not be moved to a separate thread?

@sissyblake0822 is this phone the "Galaxy 5" you asked about in another thread. If so, is that a Galaxy S5, Note 5, J5 or some other model with 5 in the name?

It will also help to know the current software version and whether this is an unlocked, unbranded phone or one bought through a carrier, and if so, which? Some rooting tools only work on some software versions, and some carriers lock their handsets down harder than other carriers or Samsung themselves do, so this information is essential in order to answer your question.

I have an unlocked Samsung J5 on straight talk with I believe marshmallow system?
I want to root the phone to link my 64gb SD card to internal storage, as Samsung took away this option for this phone.
Without the sd card linked to internal storage I have to constantly erase apps that will not transfer over to the card, to make room for new apps to be switched to the sd card then redownload the old apps. But some apps still won't work because I have no internal storage space (8gb, didn't know all this when purchasing the phone) as well as ALWAYS getting notifications for "storage is full"
@Hadron or @AMOCO ,Please help

Use lingo,root

If it's Marshmallow then none of those rooting apps are likely to work. If you can unlock the bootloader (not the same as a network unlock) and find a custom recovery built for that model (do NOT use one for a different phone model) then it should be possible to root using that. But I've never rooted a Samsung so it would be best to get advice from someone more familiar.
