It's not possible to root your sony phone without flashing a custom rom or through DooMLoRD's Easy rooting toolkit or through flashing the RootXperia.zip file through CWM, imho. Although, Sony expressly states on their blog, "The only way to get root access is to flash a custom ROM with root access.".
