Root Rooting friends OSF, any advice?

A friend wants to root his OSF and has asked me to do it. Is there key advice or threads you can link me to, to read prior. Thanks.
 
Well....i've been this for 4 hours now. Just got it sorted. My friend wanted to follow this YouTube clip, which didn't work for us. Had problems with drivers, being TFT and everything else. Some nervous times, but finally got it sorted. Now just testing out different ROMs.

Think i'll leave my Desire as-is.

Is it possible you installed the LITE version rather than the FAT one ? The Lite versions are usually missing the manufacturer apps.

I did install the lite at first then a day later added the fat, but no stock email. Not to worry through I didn't realise there was a later version, r8, thats installed now.

I did have r7 on my phone a few weeks ago & I noticed that was missing too!!
