Just wondering if the rooting methods for m130 phones are the same as m140 phones. I have neglected to root for a while and am now running the m140 update. Would've like to root but don't know if it's possible on m140. should have done it sooner.
Thanks!
Yes it is the same as this guide http://androidforums.com/5299109-post1.html
I used File Manager app and did not do the save file, add a 1 save it again then remove it and save again. File Manager app made no backup and the edits saved the very first try. I did make a copy of the file prior to editing it for a just in case.
As soon as you are rooted, I would follow this http://androidforums.com/2652307-post1.html for recovery. Boot into recovery and do a nandbackup
The recovery was seemingly a little more complicated than the root process but only because I felt as though I was having to read between the lines for what I thought they meant for each step. It went easy enough. I did have issues with attempting to run su in ADB shell. I was entering the entire command as "adb shell su" but in fact, it was suppose to be "adb shell", hit enter then type in su and hit enter. Command prompt would not process the entire command as one line. I had to enter shell then su for the #prompt. Entering the entire command did give me the #prompt but would not recognize any keystrokes.
